Athletics
At SJV, we’re called the Wildcats and we have a great deal of pride in our teams. Aside from just being great fun, we see athletic competition and physical activities as a part of a balanced and holistic education. Currently we offer the following sports:
Fall
Cross Country
Open to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Practices are usually after school two days per week, and there are four diocesan-wide meets at Overbrook School. Coaches for 2011 are Corey and Kirby Gardner, parents of Layne (5th grade) and Avery (2nd grade).
Girls’ Volleyball
Open to girls in 4, 5, and 6th grade. Practices are usually after school two days per week, and games are held at various schools throughout the diocese. Coaches for 2011 are Shannon Smith, mother of Korbin (2nd grade) and Shealee (Kindergarten), and Andrea Critchelow, mother of Haley (6th grade).
Winter
Basketball
Open to boys and girls in grades 3 – 8. Ideally, there are six teams – 3rd/4th grade boys, 3rd/4th grade girls, 5th/6th grade boys, 5th/6th grade girls, 7th/8th grade boys, and 7th/8th grade girls. Practices are usually after school two days per week, and games are held on Saturdays at various schools throughout the diocese. Sign ups for basketball will be in October.
