Music Update for January 2015 Peter & The Wolf

This January students will be studying the musical story of Peter and The Wolf.

Students will analyze and respond to a variety of orchestral instruments, demonstrate how music communicates meaning of text, feelings, mood or images, and influences personal preferences.  Students will recognize instrument families aurally and visually.

Spanish Classes for the Week of January 5, 2015

Happy New Year!  Here is what is planned for this week’s Spanish classes:

Pre-K:  We will review our numbers, colors, and days of the week with the songs we learned first semester to reestablish our class routine.

Kindergarten:  We will be working on our Spanish words for various animals with song and an activity.

First Grade:  We will be reviewing numbers and colors with a computer bingo game.

Second Grade:  We will be reviewing the Spanish alphabet with a book.

Third Grade:  We are learning the Spanish words for body parts with a song and an activity.

Fourth Grade:  We will begin using a basic Spanish textbook as we prepare to transition to middle school Spanish.

Fifth Grade:  We begin learning about regular present tense -er verb conjugations this week.

Sixth Grade:  We will spend the next week learning Unit 3 vocabulary in preparation for a quiz next Monday.

Seventh Grade:  We will spend the next week learning Unit 3 vocabulary in preparation for a quiz next Monday.

Eighth Grade:  We will be applying our knowledge of the preterite tense by reading a story and answering questions about what we read.

L/A- Unit 4 Lesson 6-10 -blend, spell and read words that contain /i/ spelled i, i-e, /s/ spelled ce and ci and /j/ spelled ge and gi.

Read decodable books 61-64

L/A- Unit 4 Lesson 6- 10 Assessment will be on Monday, January 12th

Math collect data and construct appropriate type of graph, recognize numbers to 100, and review skip counting, drawing tally marks, and building numbers using a ten frame.

Math- Assessment 7 will be on Monday, January 12th

Religion- Chapter: 11 Wise Men feast of the Epiphany

Religion- Take home Assessment over Chapter 11, is due on Thursday, January 8th

Social Studies- Social Studies- map skills Assessment on Tuesday, December 16th.

Handwriting- lesson-5-9

Writing workshop- participates in the writing process and space letters, words and sentences appropriately.

Reader’s workshop- identifies and correctly uses high frequency words in reading and writing.

2nd Quarter 2014 Wheels in Motion Winner

Thank you to the Gallatin Rotary Club and the Gallatin Police Department for the Wheels in Motion program, where a nominated student wins a bicycle and helmet for good citizenship.  Congratulations to third grader, Chloe Rausch, for earning this for second quarter!

Students continue preparing for the Christmas Program this week. Classes will gather Wednesday and Thursday morning for practice.  Please check with your homeroom teacher on proper attire for the show.  The Christmas Program begins at 6:00pm Thursday, December 18! Students arrive at 5:30 and wait in the school with their class. Parents can park and wait for the show to start in the gym.
