Books We'd Love
to have in our school library

Would you like to donate a book to our school library? We've created a wish list for our library at Amazon.com. Simply click here to view our wish list and place your order. The books you select will be delivered directly to our school. Once they arrive, a special sticker will be placed inside the front cover. It will state who donated the book and, if you like, a special dedication. For example, you could donate a book to commemorate your child's birthday or in honor of a special teacher. If you wish your book to be "in honor of" or "in memory of" a special person, please click here to email the SJV librarian so he will know to place a special sticker inside the book. Other titles were chosen from the Essential Reading List which was created by administrators and teachers from the Nashville Public School District. The purpose of the list was to familiarize students with excellent, prize winning literature through a core set of books. These books would then create a shared knowledge base for K-8 students to use in classroom discussion and comparison of other text.

The importance of reading..............

As educators and parents we must make sure that our children are prepared to enter the information age in which reading and writing play a central and critical role.Turn off the television ........and read, read, read!!!!!!!!!!!!
