This Week in 2nd Grade
We had a great first two days of school last week! We learned the rules, classroom procedures, and about each other. Please check this webpage weekly for information on what is happening in the classroom and at SJV.
8/21 Solar Eclipse! No School
9/4 Labor Day-No School
Reading: We are starting off the year by reviewing short vowel sounds and spellings as well as r-controlled vowels (or, ir, er, ur, and ar). We are also learning to summarize and compare versions of well known fairy tales.
Language: We have already begun writing in our Journals and will continue to do so throughout the year. This week we will review the different kinds of sentences.
Spelling: Coming soon!
Math: We are reviewing and practicing addition facts.
Religion: The first chapter in our book is God the Father. We will be discussing God’s role as our Father and the special gifts he gave us as His children.
Science: At the beginning of the year, we always discuss how to keep ourselves and others safe in school by reviewing safety rules, emergency drills, and how to be a friend not a bully. We will also be discussing the upcoming solar eclipse in preparation for the big event next Monday.
