What’s happening in First Grade?

4/25:      School Play – 6pm

4/26:      School Play – 1pm

4/30:      Wildcat Wednesday

5/1:        May Crowning at Mass

                Athletic Banquet at 6pm

5/8:        Art and Music Show at 5pm

Reminder: the Sounds game is Tuesday.  The students are to wear their Fun Run t-shirt, school khaki shorts, white socks and white tennis shoes.

MAY CROWNING will be at all-school Mass on Thursday, May 1 at 8 am.  All students are asked to bring a flower (this can be any type of flower – store bought or from your yard) to present to Mary in the opening procession.

STILL NEED VOLUNTEER HOURS?  here is a list of some upcoming opportunities:

Athletic Banquet: set up – Thursday, May 1st 3:30 – 5:00, break-down/clean-up 7:00

Art and Music Show:  Hanging artwork: Monday, 5/5 – 7:45 – 11:00 and 12:30 – 3:00; Tuesday, 5/6 –  7:45 – 10:00; Wednesday 5/7 9:30 – 11:00 and 12:30 – 3:00 (if needed) ; chair set-up- Thursday, 5/8-  3:30 – 4:30; removal and sorting of art from walls: Monday, 5/12 – 7:45 – 11:00 and 12:30 – 3:00.

Reading words that contain /aw/ spelled au_, aw, al, all and augh and ough.

Reading comprehension- decodable books 92, Paul’s Sauce and 93, Mr. Daw Thought. Also the poem Riddles in the Student Reader book 1.

Read The Little Engine That Could in the Student Reader book 1- Reading test Tuesday, May 6th (review on Monday, May 5th).

English– investigate singular and plural pronouns.

Math- Lesson 95-2: Comparing the size of the unit and the number of units to measure an object, Lesson 96: drawing congruent shapes and designs, Lesson 97: measuring and drawing line segments to the nearest inch and Lesson 98: Counting nickels.

Religion- Chapter 19: Jesus was raised to New Life; Test Friday, May 2nd
