Look What’s Happening In Kindergarten
It was wonderful seeing so many of you at out first SJV 5K! It was a fantastic event! Thank you to everyone who volunteered and walked or ran in the event.
Our weeks are getting busier and busier as the end of the school year begins to approach. Please remember to check daily folders every night and Wednesday folders for any important information being sent home.
Field trip money for the Nashville Sounds is due Tuesday morning, April 8. We are also looking for one father from each classroom to attend the game with us. The adult cost for the game is $12. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested.
Here’s what’s happening in the classroom this week.
MATH – This week we will be measuring using inches, using indirect comparions to compare height and length of objects, practicing measuring with a ruler, and identifying 3 dimensional shapes.
RELIGION – We will begin learning about Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday. We will discuss the events that lead up to the death of Jesus.
SCIENCE – We will continue with our unit on Organisms. This week we will make terrariums.
READING – This week we will decode 5 new sight words, practice rhyming words, attach the long /i/ sound to the letter Ii, review syllables, blend phonemes, learn about past tense actions words (verbs), read and respond to a decodable. We will also develope an understanding for new vocabulary words. Our selection for the week will be “Becoming Butterflies”. There will be a sight word test next Wednesday and Thursday.
HANDWRITING – This week we will practice the letter Vv, Uu, Ii, and Ee. We will also practice our handwriting skills by writing complete sentences using sight words.
