Iowa Test- we will take the last Iowa test this week on Monday morning

Mrs. Holder is buying the students pizza for lunch on Thursday, March 13th to reward the student for their hard work in taking the Iowa test. We will be eating in the classroom that day, so if your child does not want pizza please pack their lunch on Thursday.

 SJV WILDCAT 5K – APRIL 5, 2014 – Don’t forget to sign up for our inaugural SJV Wildcat 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 5.  Online registration is available at, or paper registration forms are also available in the office.

Reading – review long /a/ spelled ai_ and _ay and long /i/ spelled _igh, _y, and ie_. Review test on Thursday

Reading comprehension- Read decodable books- Why, Bly?, Wait for Me?

 Math-  use linking cubes to show doubles plus one fact, differentiate between doubles plus one fact and other facts, solve doubles plus one facts and test on Thursday

Sciences- Define the terms “reduce, reuse and recycle”.

Writing- finish writing a “How to…”paper.

Spelling- Our class is holding an informal spelling bee in the classroom Thursday, March 13th, in the afternoon. We will use spelling words from Unit 5 lessons 1-15. I am sending home the words for your child to study and I have also listed the words on SpellingCity for your child to use.

If you have any of these items, we could use them by Thursday for Sciences:

  • sequins
  • buttons
  • yarn
  • ribbon
  • masking tape
  • beads
  • glitter
  • 2 magazines
  • 2-3 empty containers with a lid (oatmeal, yogurt, raisin) sizes does not matter
  • 5-6 paper towel rolls
  • waxed paper
  • 2-3 empty shoe boxes
  • 4 empty cereal boxes or cracker boxes
  • 5-6 empty plastic water bottles
  • 2-3 empty milk jugs
  • ruler or stick
