What’s happening in First Grade?

DATES TO REMEMBER:

1/30/14: Habitat project due (please do not turn in before)                    

 

SJV will celebrate the week with the following events:

 

Monday, January 27: Student Appreciation Day

                          Out-Of-Uniform Day for Students (follow handbook guidelines)

                          Faculty vs. 8th grade Volleyball Game at 2:15 pm

Tuesday, January 28: SJV Day

                               Special Student Assembly

                               Service Opportunities for Students

Wednesday, January 29: Parent Appreciation Day

                                    (Sorry, we can’t tell you – it’s a surprise!)

                                  Bishop’s Mass at the Cathedral for one representative from each class

Thursday, January 30: Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day

                                    Faculty/Staff Breakfast 8-9         

                                   Out of Uniform Reward for OLOL Mass Attendees* 

Friday, January 31: Grandparents Day

                               Mass (PK-8)

                              11:30 am dismissal

Please continue reading with your child. When your child reads to you he/she is developing his/her vocabulary and building fluency. These extra practice times along with reading in the classroom will help your child become a strong and confident reader.

Reading  /e/ spelled ee and ea and review verbs and adjectives

Reading comprehension- Read decodable books- A Better Mule, A Zebra and Summer Heat   

Math-  write money amount with a cent symbol, use dimes and pennies accurately to show the cost of an item, accurately divide square in to two equal pieces and solve subtraction problems with subtracting two strategies.

Religion- Ch. 13: Jesus Begins His Work and quiz

Sciences- Animal Habitat Project Due Date: January 30th

Writing- write Who am I sentences using verbs and adjectives.

No spelling this week
