1/20/14:                               No School-Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

1/22 & 1/23/14:                 Vision and Hearing Screening

1/24/14:                               Last day for discounted re-registration rate

1/25/14:                               Chili Cook- off at 5:30 in the gym

1/31/14:                               Grandparent’s Day – 11:30 dismissal

SJV will celebrate the week with the following events for Catholic Schools week:

January 25 – Chili Cookoff @ 5:30 pm

January 27 – Student Appreciation Day (Out of Uniform Day for Students)

January 28 – St. John Vianney Day

January 29 – Parent Appreciation Day & Bishop’s All School’s Mass @ Cathedral

January 30 – Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day

January 31 – Grandparents’ Day

Please continue reading with your child. When your child reads to you he/she is developing his/her vocabulary and building fluency. These extra practice times along with reading in the classroom will help your child become a strong and confident reader.

Reading –  long o spelled o_e,  long u spelled u_e and quiz

review  adjectives and learn about adjectives that compare

Reading comprehension- Riding in GemPark, Frozen and  Muse the Mule


Math-  Identifying Pairs, quiz, Graphing Pieces used to Cover a Design , Reading a Graph and Identifying Ordinal Position to 26th

Religion- Ch. 13: Jesus Begins His Work and quiz

Sciences- review characteristics and habitats of fish and amphibians

Animal Habitat Project Due Date: January 30th

Writing- use writing strategies of adding details and rewriting

share friendly letters and respond to others’ writing

Social Justice-

The students will recognize Martin Luther King Jr. as a great leader who worked to get equal rights for all people.

The student will understand oneself and others as persons accountable for choices and their consequences.
