This Week in 2nd Grade

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a great break, including the extra day! I can’t believe the school year is already half over. We still have lots to learn in second grade.

Upcoming Events and Reminders:

1/20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day- No School

1/26-1/31: Catholic Schools Week

1/31: Grandparents’ Day, All-School Mass, 11:30am Dismissal

Reading: We are continuing our Around the Town Unit. This week’s selection is Jalapeno Bagels, about a boy who helps his parents at their bakery. Vocabulary words are: jalapeno, international, culture, ingredients, dough. Test is on Friday.

Spelling: Test is on Friday.

Language Arts: We are writing our goals for 2014. We are also learning how to use commas in a series.

Religion: We are learning about the Holy Family, the role of each member, and how they are models for our families.

Math: We are reviewing subtraction facts and learning to add two-digit numbers with regrouping.

Social Studies: We are starting Unit 4. We will be learning about jobs, goods and services, and wants and needs.
