News for the week of December 4 – December 10, 2013

Letter from the Principal:

Dear SJV Families,

I hope that you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday with your friends and families, and had some time for relaxation as well.

It is hard to believe that we only have 11 school days until we depart for Christmas break.  I know that everyone is busy this time of year, and excited for the upcoming holidays, but please help us help your child by maintaining a consistent routine (i.e. healthy meals/snacks, homework/studying, bedtime) throughout these next weeks.  All students are still receiving important instruction in their classrooms, and students in 4th through 8th grade will begin semester exams soon.

Thank you for entrusting your child to us, and for partnering with us to provide each child with an excellent education.

God bless,

Jennifer McCormick

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PARTY UPDATE  The middle school Christmas party is right around the corner, but the middle school team needs your help to make it happen!  We are asking each student to send $2 in an envelope with their name on it mark Christmas Party by Friday, December 13th so they can purchase supplies.  If you have any additional questions about the event, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher at their school email address.

DISMISSAL PROCEDURE REMINDER Just a reminder to keep our students safe at dismissal…students who are staying for after school activities should remain in the school at dismissal and not go out to their cars to drop off backpacks or pick up snacks.  When students leave the building to go to their cars, we assume that they are leaving for the day and once all car doors are closed, we allow the cars to move.  We don’t want a stray student to be injured.  Thanks for your help with this!
