News for the week of October 23– October 29, 2013

Letter from the Principal:

Dear SJV Families,

Many thanks to everyone who came to Parent-Teacher Conferences last week.  I hope that setting this time aside for you to talk with your children’s teachers was helpful!  Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any future questions or concerns.  We are here to work with you to provide your child with the best education possible.

The newsletter is packed with information this week!  I know that we are all busy, and we get inundated with emails every day.  Despite this, please take a few moments to review the newsletter each week.  We work hard to keep you informed of everything that is going on at SJV, and we don’t want anyone to be out of the loop!

Don’t forget that our inaugural golf tournament is coming up on Monday!  We still have room for a few more golfers, so if you know of someone who would like a fantastic day of fun that benefits a wonderful cause (and a chance to win a new car!), please share the info with them.

Have a wonderful week, and thank you for all of your support!

Jennifer McCormick

NEWS FOR THE WEEK:

CIA (Community in Action) NEWS:

FUN RUN NEWSThank you parents and students for your support of our 5th Annual Fun Run!  For the first time in the history of the Fun Run, 100% of our students participated.  The school spirit exhibited by the teachers and students was inspiring!

We would like to congratulate our fundraising winners:

1st Place – Cameron Holcombe (Pre-K)

2nd Place – Alex Marzano (8th Grade)

3rd Place – Joseph Daughtry (K) and Hudson Wood (K)

Our classroom winners raising the most money per student are:

1st Place – Kindergarten

2nd Place – Pre-K

3rd Place – 4th Grade

Congratulations to Pre-K, K, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades for meeting their classroom goals of raising at least $50 per student!  These classrooms will receive an out-of-uniform day on October 31 to wear their Fun Run t-shirts, jeans and white tennis shoes.  Because so many students worked hard to raise money for the run, any student that raised at least $50 in pledges in a classroom that didn’t meet the class goal will also receive the out-of-uniform reward.

We want to see all the classrooms receive the out-of-uniform reward, so we will accept any outstanding pledges through Tuesday, October 29.  Check with your teacher to find out how close your class is to meeting their goal.

CIA MEETING:  We had a wonderful CIA meeting this past Monday.  Thank you to Mrs. Roberts and the 7th grade for hosting, and all those in attendance.  Official minutes will be attached to next week’s newsletter, but here are some highlights in case you missed the meeting:
