Rockin’ in Week 8!
Hello SJV families! What an exciting week this will be. Here we are, already on the verge of Fall Break! I can’t believe how fast this first quarter has flown. The students have really been working hard and have grown so much already just in this short amount of time. I am extremely proud of all of them, as well as proud to be their teacher. With the quarter coming to an end, there are a few things that I would like to mention:
- Tomorrow, October 2nd, we will have the Wheels in Motion presentation at 3:00. This program honors one student in our school that stands out among the rest.
- Thursday, October 3rd, is Fall Picture day. Students are required to come in their mass uniform. However, there will be no weekly school mass due to the fact that Father Gideon is visiting Rome. Furthermore, we will be having the student council voting that morning following drop-off.
- Friday, October 4th, kicks off the start of Fall Break! There is no school for students October 4th- October 11th. School resumes on October 14th. I hope you all have a fun and safe break!
- Friday, October 18th, ends the first quarter. Report cards will be sent home, as well as no school for students due to parent teacher conferences.
This Week’s Playlist:
Spelling: Test on Thursday.
Religion: Unit test on Tuesday. Students will begin discussing Chapter 5 on Wednesday and Thursday.
Reading: Story this week: One Small Place in a Tree. Students will take their weekly lesson assessment on Thursday. Again, I will be giving the students a jumpstart on the short answer/extended response questions. Please make sure they are going through the story to formulate answers to these questions. I cannot stress enough how important it is that the students gather the information from the story, formulate complete sentences, and practice writing them the night before.
Grammar: Continuing to work on our Bio Poems. Students will finish these this week.
Math: We are continuing to work on fractions this week. Students are taking their understanding a bit deeper by comparing fractions with like/unlike denominators. To conclude our fraction lessons, students will take an assessment on Thursday as well.
Science: We will be continuing our lesson on different ecosystems. I foresee a test sometime late in the week after break. Possibly Wednesday or Thursday. I will monitor our progress and update you the week we come back.
Social Studies: We will begin our next chapter by working with the chapter vocabulary first. We will be trying a new model that was shown to the teachers at our last in-service.
*Please turn in all Fun Run money by Thursday, October 3rd!!!!!*
