The proof is on the post-it
Students are not only enjoying their class reading books, they are also learning how to use textual evidence. They are learning how characters are created by authors, and they are learning to find examples of characterization in the text. Feedback from JPII was that students have a difficult time providing specific supporting evidence, so SJV students are getting practice with this skill. Students are choosing character traits for a character, then proving that they are correct by providing specific evidence from the text. Students are also classifying their proof as character’s thoughts, actions, words, or what other characters are saying. The project will be ongoing until the book is completed.
