This Week in Fourth Grade
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a nice weekend! This week the spotlight is on Thomas; we are looking forward to hearing from him! Here’s what’s going on this week:
Math: This week in Math we will be learning to draw circles with a compass. We will also work on multiplying by 1, 5, 7, 10, and 12. We will begin talking about the days in a week, weeks in a month, and months in a year.
Reading: This week we will be reading an excerpt from the play Langston Hughes: Poet of the People. We will be working on the suffixes -ed, -ing, as well as noun endings -s and -es. Our tested skill this week is Author’s Purpose.
Language Arts/Writing: This week we will continue to work on our biographies. In grammar we will be learning about linking verbs, verb phrases, and plural and irregular nouns.
Science: This week in Science we will continue with chapter 2:Animal Growth and Adaptations. We will learn about metamorphosis, body coverings, camouflage, instincts, and learned behaviors. We will be having a Science test on Tuesday of next week.
Social Studies: This week in Social Studies we will be observing the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. We will also finish our study of the Great American Melting Pot and learn about the three branches of government.
Religion: We will be having a Religion test over chapter 2 tomorrow, Tuesday September 10th. We will then do a study and discovery of the Rosary before beginning chapter 3, where we will learn about Noah and the great flood.

9/12: All School Mass
9/16: CIA Meeting, 6pm (hosted by Third Grade)
9/19: School Board Meeting, 7pm
9/23: NO SCHOOL
9/25: Wildcat Wednesday (Cross-Country, Volleyball, Football)
9/27: Fun Run (12:45-3:00 pm in the gym)
9/28: Murder Mystery Dinner Show
