What’s Happening In Kindergarten
I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing long weekend and enjoyed some family time! Here’s what’s going on in the classroom this week.
The students will be bringing homework home for the first time this week. The packet is due back on Friday. It is not intended to be completed in one evening. Good study/homework habbits begin early. It is important that the students have a designeated place to complete their homework, take their time, work neatly and always try their best. ALL HOMEOWRK IS TO BE COMPLETED IN PENCIL. CRAYONS ARE ONLY USED FOR COLORING. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
MATH – This week we will place a real object on a graph, identify most and fewest on a graph, use positional words and phrases over, under, on top, behind, in back, in front, and beside, and create pattern block designs.
SOCIAL STUDIES – This week we will make a map, read simple maps, compare the city with the country, and create a mural of the country and the city.
READING/LANGUAGE ARTS – This week we will be doing a theme unit based on the wonderful book “Curious George”. We will verbalize information known about monkeys, make story predictions, identify story elements, listen to a story for details, sequence story events, identify cause and effect relationships, compare and contrast the book “Curious George” to the movie, and create a Curious George. The students will also be receiving their first 5 sight words. Please practice these words daily with your child. We will also be working with the words in the classroom. The packet of sight wordsare to be kept at home. Each week we will build upon the words.
HANDWRITING – This week we will continue to work on names using only one capital letter at the beginning and practice the letters R and N.
RELIGION – This week we will begin to undersatnd that we can trust Jesus to listen when we call upon Him. We will read the Bible story “Jesus Heals Bartimaeus”.
