Music & Technology Update for the Week of September 2-6

 

Music Elementary School Pre-K thru 4th Grade

Music Pre-K

Students will sing and dance along to Better Bodies and Brains DVD songs & Katalina Matalina (rhythm & rhyme) & Bear Hunt (storytelling)

 

Music Kindergarten

Students will learn the value concept “walk” for the quarter note and “slowly” for the half note. Students will complete pg.7 in God Made Music; watch Brain Pop video over Time Signature and Note Values

Music 1st

Students will review that music has a beat. Opening Song Dr. Jean’s Better Bodies and Brains “Its Time to Wake UP” (this has a marching beat to it); Students watch Brain Pop video Pitch Tone and Beat.

Music 2nd

Students will learn the formation of treble and bass clefs, that the treble clef signifies higher voices and that the bass clef signifies lower voices; review note value. Students will complete Lesson 4 in God Made Music pg. 7 & 8; watch Brain Pop video over Pitch, Tone & Beat; complete the 5 question review quiz over the video as a class.

 

Music 3rd

Students will review that notes on the staff tell how long a tone lasts.  Bar lines divide notes on the staff into measures; students will learn the meaning, recognition and performance of the whole, half, and quarter rests. Students complete Lesson 6 in God Made Music pg. 9; watch Brain Pop video over Time Signature and Note Values; complete the 5 question review quiz over the video as a class then individually.

Music 4th

Students will learn that notes can be on a line or in a space.  Whole notes receive 4 beats, half notes receive 2 beats, and quarter notes receive 1 beat. Students are introduced to Lesson 3 in God Made Music; watch Brain Pop video over Time Signature and Note Values; complete the 5 question review quiz over the video as a class then individually.

 

Technology Elementary School Pre-K-4

Students will review parts of a computer & internet safety (Brain Pop Video Review).
