Spanish Class: 5th through 8th Grade

Last week we discussed classroom expectations, distributed textbooks and workbooks, and 6th-8th graders took a non-graded quiz to show me what they remembered from last year.

Here’s what is planned for this week:

5th grade:  5th grade had two Spanish classes last week, so we were able to begin Lesson 1.  We will continue discussion of Lesson 1 concepts, specifically vocabulary, gender/number, and appropriate definite articles.  On Thursday we will begin Lesson 2 with common Spanish expressions, greetings, and leave-takings.

6th grade:  We will review vocabulary and grammar concepts such as calendar (days, months), telling time, and numbers.

7th grade:  We will review vocabulary of everyday living, practice reading for comprehension, review conjugations of ser in the present tense, adjective agreement, and the regular present tense conjugations of -ar, -er, and -ir verbs.

8th grade:  We will begin a review of grammar concepts covered in previous years, including gender, number and both definite and indefinite articles; subject pronouns; conjugation of regular present tense -ar, -er, and -ir verbs; and the irregular verbs tener, ir, querer, decir, dar, hacer, poner, saber, salir, traer, ser, and estar.

Looking forward to a great week!
