Grade 3: This Week at a Glance – May 13 – 17

Light of Leadership Mass Tuesday

8th Grade Confirmation at the Cathedral Wednesday

PLEASE KEEP OUR EIGHTH GRADERS IN YOUR PRAYERS AS THEY ENJOY MANY SPECIAL AND EXCITING EVENTS OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS: Light of Leadership, Confirmation, Washington DC trip, and graduation.

RELIGION: This week the students will to learn about the Holy Spirit and Pentecost. They will make cards and gifts for the 8th graders for their Confirmation.

READING: This week we will read our last story for the year! We will not have a spelling list or a reading test. Since this story wraps up our social studies unit on economics, we will have a social studies assessment on Thursday. The students will bring home material to study each night.

SPELLING: No spelling words this week!

LANGUAGE ARTS: The students will finish their grammar book this week. Our final test will be next Wednesday.

MATH:  The students have completed the Saxon math lessons for the year. The students will continue to work on math skills through math games, math challenges, and review material. There is no test this week.

SCIENCE: This week, we will finish our unit on physical properties and states of matter.  The test on the unit will be on Friday, May 17. The students will complete the chapter review in class on Wednesday.  It is very important that the students know all of the vocabulary words. For students who enjoy using spellingcity to play the vocabulary games, the words are listed under Science, Properties of Matter.  Please remember that studying in smaller increments over time helps retention and is less stressful for the student.

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will sum up our economics unit this week. Our test will be on Thursday. The students will be creating vocabulary papers to use to study. We will go over the material extensively in class.

TECHNOLOGY: The students will enjoy playing math games on Greg Tang’s Demo site.

LIBRARY:  All library books were due last week. If your child has any books from the school or classroom library, please return them to school as soon as possible.

Please remember to have your child wear his/her Mass uniform on Tuesday for the Light of Leadership All-School Mass.
