Look What’s Happening In Kindergarten

I hope everyone was able to attend that Gala this weekend.  It was a wonderful evening!  Thank you to all those who supprted the Gala.

Please keep Melissa Montgomery, the first grade teacher,  and her family in your prayers.  Her father passed away very suddenly this weekend.

Here’s what’s happening in the classroom this week.

MATH – This week we will be practicing addition facts adding 0, 1 and 2, reviewing coins, coin amounts and counting money.

RELIGION – This week we will listen to the  Bible story about Pentecost.

SCIENCE – We will discuss Earth Day and how we can take care of the earth.  We will also begin the next part of our “living things” unit.  We will follow the life cycle of the caterpillar.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We will identify laws and rules that make us safe at home and at school.

READING – This week we will review previous sight words, decode new words, identify word order, learn about future tense action words, identify and produce rhyming words, read and respond to a decodable, understand new selection vocabulary, look at story setting and the cause and effect relationship.  Our selection for the week will be “Zinnia’s Flower Garden”.
