Elementary Spanish & Music for the Week of 4/15/13
Another busy week in our Spanish & Music Classes! Here’s what we are learning:
Pre-K: In Music, we will learn a new song, practicing following the directions of a conductor, and working on coordination with regards to rhythm and beat. In Spanish we will learn some new vocabulary on the names of different animals with a song and game. We will also sing our songs to review colors, numbers, food, and parts of the body.
Kindergarten: In Music, we will be playing a variety of musical instruments, and discovering different ways in which we can play them to coordinate with different types of music. In Spanish we will learn some new vocabulary on the names of different animals with a song and game.
1st Grade: In Spanish, we continue to practice our food vocabulary by playing bingo. In Music, we will read a book called The Music Inside Me which a beautiful story written and illustrated by 4th and 5th graders. This book won the Grand Prize in the Scholastic “Kids are Authors” Competition. This will be the kick-start for an activity we will begin next week.
2nd Grade: In Spanish, we continue to practice our food vocabulary by playing bingo. In Music, we will begin working on performing a short kids musical called “Dancing Colors,” wherein each student will perform through singing and interpretive dance.
3rd Grade: In Music we will be finishing our study of melody and harmony and begin working on singing in a round. In Spanish, we will finish our Spanish letters to friends this week.
4th Grade: In Music we will begin listening to and discussing a variety of musical genres. In Spanish, we will pick up where we left off last week by talking about Costa Rica, and then begin Lesson 8 on telling time.
