Look What’s Happening In Kindergarten!
Things are back to normal again in the classroom. The students will be given homework and sight words as usual this week. Report cards will be coming home this week in the Wednesday folder. With Easter quickly approaching, I am asking that each students bring in 6 small plastic Easter eggs for a special Holy Week activity. Please have these to school no later than Friday March 22nd. Here’s what happening this week.
MATH – This week we will identify a cone, sort three-dimensional objects, identify daytime and nighttime, count by 2’s, identify odd and even numbers, and measure distance using nonstandard units.
SOCIAL STUDIES – This week we will identify the United States flag, understand that every country has its own flag as a symbol of that country, and identify other state symbols such as state bird, flag, and tree.
READING/LANGUAGE ARTS – This week we will delete initial and final phonemes in words, attach the /kw/ sound to the letter Qq, the /y/ sound to the letter Yy, the /v/ sound to the letter Vv, practice sound-by-sound blending, read and respond to a decodable, and replace names with the pronouns I and you. We will also review the comprehension strategies predicting and comparing and contrasting.
RELIGION – We will continue with our study of “faith” and reading of Noah’s Ark. We will also watch the Beginners Bible version of “Noah’s Ark”.
