Look What’s Happening In Kindergarten
This is a very short week for us. Don’t forget there is no school on Friday for kindergarten and pre-k due to 2013-2014 screening. There will be no homework or new sight words this week. Please keep practicing the sight words you have and keep reading each night. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Shelby, Mrs. Cullen, and Mrs. Adams for helping make our Valentine’s party so much fun. Our Smart Kids/Safe Kids program will be Tuesday morning. If anyone has food ads they will not be using, please send them to school with your child. We need them for a science activity on Thursday. Here’s what is going on in the classroom this week.
MATH – This week we will sort coins and identify a quarter and a dollar, cover designs using tangrams, explore/review flips, turns, and slides, identify largest and smallest, and identify and cover half of a shape.
RELIGION – This week we will have our Smart Kids/Safe Kids program on Tuesday. We will also finish the story of Joseph. We will understand that God wants us to forgive those that hurt us.
READING/LANGUAGE ARTS – This week we will practice sound-by-sound blending, attach the short /e/ sound to the letter Ee, review and segment syllables, review order and position words, practice test taking skills, review nouns and reread our selection “Swimmy”. We will also review the writing process in Writing workshop.
SCIENCE – We will continue our study of the food pyramid and continue working on our “Rainbow Food Book”. The students will be creating their own pyramids on Thursday using food ads.
HANDWRITING – This week we will practice the letters E and e.
