Look What We Are Studying in Pre-K……


No school on Friday February 15th (Professional development day) and Monday February 18th (winter break).

No school for Pre-K or K February 22nd. Pre-K and Kindergarten entry test date.

Valentine’s Day party –is on Thursday February 14th in the afternoon.

SMART KIDS, SAFE KIDS PROGRAM- Each year the diocese requires the schools to provide Smart Kids, Safe Kids instruction to their students.  This year the program will be presented from February 19th – 22nd. If you have any questions about this program you can contact the school office at 230-7048.

Theme-To teach social skills and how to develop friendships.  First read I’m a Good Friend by David Parker and discuss what a friend is. Then read Valentine’s Day Grump by Rose Greydanus and discuss the importance of friendship with the students, and make a list on the board of qualities that friends have or should have.

Language Arts– The students will be able to learn how to make new words along with Segmentation: Clapping Word Parts and Alphabetic Principle: Name letters, sound and pictures that begin with that letter.

Religion– Read Exodus 2:1-10. The students will tell the story of Moses’ birth.

Writing- The students will make a letter with wood pieces and continue practicing writing the student names in upper and lower case letters…

Computer Class- The students will continue practicing their mouse skills and key board skills. Please continue to encourage your child to practice these skills at home.

Math- The students will identify, describe and extend simple patterns using a variety of concrete objects.

Science– The students will continue investigating the properties of a solid and a liquid called suspension. We will experiment with cornstarch and water to create this fun gooey suspension
