SMART KIDS, SAFE KIDS PROGRAM- Each year the diocese requires the schools to provide Smart Kids, Safe Kids instruction to their students. This year the program will be presented from February 19th – 22nd. We will be sending home permissions slips for each child in next week’sWednesday folder. Please complete this form and send it back to the school by February 13th so that we can schedule sessions for each grade and make arrangements for the students not participating. If you have any questions about this program you can contact the school office at 230-7048.
Language Arts– The students will be able to learn how to make new words. Review sight words a, my, and, in, the, also introduce new sight word is. Review Rebus Picture Cards- Fire truck, dog, and girl and take home pre-decodable book 7, The Fire Truck. Introduce Oral Blending: Compound Word eyeball, football, rainbow, sailboat and cupcake. Segmentation: Clapping Word Parts.
Religion– Read Genesis 6:11-9:17. The students will investigate the story of Noah’s Ark.
Writing- The students will make a letter B with wood pieces and trace the letter in the writing workbook page 49. Introduce student names in lower case.
Computer Class- The students will continue practicing their mouse skills and key board skills. Please continue to encourage your child to practice these skills at home.
Math- The students will identify, describe and extend simple patterns using a variety of concrete objects.
Science– The students will investigate the properties of a solid and a liquid called suspension. We will experiment with cornstarch and water to create this fun gooey suspension.
