Look What’s Happening In Kindergarten!

I hope everyone enjoyed Catholic Schools Week!  We had a wonderful week celebrating our catholic education.  Thank you so very much for the fabulous gift card.  It was more than generous!  I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to be a part of your child’s education.  Thank you for your continued support in all that we do.  I truly appreciate your kindness.

Book – It reading logs for January are due by Wednesday Feb. 6th.  February’s reading log will be sent home in the homework folder this week.

RELIGION – This week we will continue with our story of Joseph.  We will see how God continues to work through Joseph as he helps the people of Egypt.

MATH – This week we will identify left and right, sort and identify tangrams, measure length using nonstandard units, graph a picture on a pictograph, cover designs using tangrams, and explore slides, flips and turns.

SCIENCE – The students will be intorduce to the Food Pyramid and will learn the importance of healthy snacks and meals.

SOCIAL STUDIES – We will explain how basic needs are met, discuss goods and services, and classify and categorize information.

HANDWRITING – This week we will practice the letters Ww and Kk and forming words properly in sentences.

READING/LANGUAGE ARTS – This week the students will decode new sight words, blend initial and final phonemes to make words, attach the /k/ sound to the letter Kk and the /w/ sound to the letter Ww, make rhyming words by changing initial phonemes, review the Table of Centents, learn new selection vocabulary and begin a new reading unit on “Teamwrok”.  We will continue to practice writing sentences properly and learn what naming words are, nouns.
