This Week in 2nd Grade

Christmas is almost here! This week is all about Christmas. We are reading Christmas stories, making Christmas crafts, and learning about the birth of our Savior.

                                                                     

Reading: We read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” today and started a project on it. A short comprehension quiz on the story will be given on Wednesday. We will also be reading “The Legend of the Poinsettia” and learning about Christmas traditions in Mexico. A short comprehension quiz on this story will be on Friday.

Spelling: This week’s words are: wreath, candy, present, elf, stocking, snowflake, manger, cookie, jingle, Christmas.

Math: Math test tomorrow. Math test may include: adding 10 to two-digit numbers; counting dimes, nickels, and pennies; reading a thermometer to the nearest 10 degrees; measuring line segments; finishing number patterns; and addition facts. Fact test for facts with sums of 15, 16, 17, and 18 and review facts will be on Thursday.

Religion: We are talking about the Annunication and the birth of Jesus. Quiz will be on Thursday.

Social Studies: We are continuing to talk about landforms, natural resources, and how we can protect the Earth. Quiz over Unit 2 will be on Friday.
