News for the week of November 28 – December 4, 2012

Letter from the Principal:

Dear SJV families:

I hope that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving with your families!  I’m not sure which time of year seems busier – the holidays or the end of the school year – but these weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas surely rank up near the top!

There are only 15 days left in the school year, but they are very important days!  We are hard at work preparing for our annual Christmas program on Tuesday, December 18.  Our 4th – 8th graders are also getting ready to have semester exams.  With the excitement of the season, it is tempting to stray from regular routines, but please remind your children to stay focused on school all the way through until Christmas.

Have a blessed week!

Jennifer McCormick

thank yoU  to all of the wonderful and generous volunteers for donating their time, decorating talents, and turkeys so that our annual feast would be a great time for everyone!  Thanks to their efforts our school family was able to spend time together counting our blessings!

athletic pictures on december 5th:     We will be having Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, and Science Olympiad team pictures taken on Wednesday, December 5th at 3:30 in the school gymnasium.    The group pictures will be going used in the yearbook.  For those sports that have already ended we will have jerseys ready at the time the picture is taken, but you will need to send in your child’s PE shorts for them to change into.  These group pictures and individual shots can be purchased if you so wish.  Check your child’s Wednesday folder for order forms.  These should be completed and sent back with payment on or before the pictures are taken.  If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

CONGRATULATIONS to current Wildcat, Tiegan Clausen (7th grade), for her first place finish in the JPII Caldwell Classic Middle School Fun Run on November 17.  Wildcat alum, Michael Simpson (’11) won the Caldwell Classic 5K event with a time of 18:07:51.  We are proud of all of our SJV WILDCATS!

WAY TO GO WILDCATS !  If you know of any current or past Wildcat that deserves recognition on a great accomplishment please let us know by 2 pm Monday so we can include the info in our newsletter.

UNIFORM REMINDERS:  Please remember that there are a variety of uniform tights for girls to wear during the winter season, and khaki pants may only be worn by girls on days when the forecasted DAYTIME high temperature is less than 45 degrees.

STUDENTS – PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PE SHOES AND UNIFORM (if applicable) for class.  Not having on the proper shoes can cause accidents and it leaves marks on the floors that are very difficult to clean off.  We would hate for anyone to have to sit out during PE class (especially the little ones) but students will not be allowed to participate if they are not prepared.

1ST rECONCILIATION PARENT MEETING:  Just a reminder that the Parent 1st Reconciliation Meeting is this Thursday at 6:30 in the Church.  Our second graders will receive their First Reconciliation at the Parish Penance service on December 3 at 6:30 pm.

PARTY TIME!  It’s hard to believe, but the Christmas season is right around the corner and it is time to start planning the children’s Advent Party.  Please check your child’s Wednesday folder for fees and guidelines.
