Look What’s Happening In Kindergarten
I hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend! Just a reminder that this Friday, September 7, is an 11:30 dismissal. This will be the first week for homework. Homework will be sent home the first day of the week in the blue homework folder, and is due back to school on Friday, in the blue homework folder. The homework packet is not intended to be completed in one evening. Please take your time and encourage your child to do his/her best work. Here is what we will be doing in the classroom this week.
MATH – This week we will be placing objects on real graph, identifying most and fewest, using positional words and phrases over, under, on top, behind, in back and in front, and creating pattern block designs.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We will be constructing simple maps, comparing a city with the country, and creating murals of the city and the country.
READING – This week we will be reading the book “Curious George”. We will define the word “curious”, make story predictions, identify story elements, listen for story details, sequence story events, identify cause and effect relationships, compare and contrast the book to the movie, and create our own Curious George. The students will also be receiving their first set of sight words. Please practice these words each night with yor child. Please do not get frustrated if your child struggles with this concept at first. This is a new concept and it will take practice, practice, practice!!!!
RELIGION – Our Bible story for the week will be “Jesus Heals Bartimaeus”. We will also be going to Adoration on Friday.
HANDWRITING – This week we will be practicing the letters R and N. The students will also be practicing writing their names using one uppercase letter at the beginning and the rest lowercase.
