A Look At 1st Grade 2/13
Language Arts:
Students will blend, spell, and write words with the “ear” and “ey” sounds. For “ear” the clue is “ear” of “early” (her first nurse works early). We will also review elements of realistic fiction by reading “Winner’s Never Quit” in our reading sereis.
Spelling:
earth, heard, search, learn, unheard, money, honey, donkey, valley, volleyball
*Test on Thursday afternoon*
Writing:
Working on expanding sentences using descriptive words. Review adjectives and comparative adjectives while working on sentence expansion.
Math:
Continue with counting money (nickles, pennies, dimes), time to half hour (half past), reviewing addition facts and subraction facts. Students will practice with fact families. Since the class enjoyed playing around the world so much last week, we will be playing the game again this week to help with our facts.
