News for the week of February 8 – February 14,2012

“Your every act should be done with love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Letter from the Principal:

Dear SJV Families,

Thank you very much for your support of Catholic Schools Week!  It was wonderful to see so many of you at our school events and local parishes as we celebrate and promote our Catholic identity.

I would like to offer a very special thank you to all of the families who have helped with the Basketball tournaments that SJV has hosted this season.  Your donations and volunteer hours have helped raise money for our athletic program that we can use to enhance the equipment and facilities we have here.   We have one more tournament this Saturday, so if you don’t have plans, please come show your support for our teams.

For those of you whose children are re-enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year, you should find a Parish Subsidy Form in the Wednesday folder today.  In order to receive the Catholic tuition rate, you must take the card to the parish at which you are registered, receive the signature of your pastor, and return the card to the school.

Have a great week!

Jennifer McCormick

TEAM SPIRIT TUESDAY:  There will be a Team Spirit Tuesday on Tuesday, February 21 for members of the SJV Basketball and Science Olympiad Teams.  These students should wear their team jerseys or t-shirts with blue jeans and white tennis shoes.  Basketball players should then launder their uniforms and return them to school as soon as possible.

Girls get into math and science at Camp St. Cecilia!

Camp St. Cecilia wants middle school girls to have fun with math and science this summer. SCA science teachers Dr. Karen Deal and Mrs. Rebecca Simon will be leading the SCA Science Olympics camp (June 11-15) where girls can try out engineering, astronomy, and other science projects.  Girls can perform fun, scientific experiments during the Be a Myth buster! camp with Ms. Ashley George and Mrs. Maggie Kuyper (June 18-22).  And for those girls who love numbers, Algebra Help and Advanced Math Help camps, both the week of July 16-20, are the perfect places for them this summer. Both camps will help girls prepare for pre-algebra and algebra through fun experiments and computer simulations. Finally, Fun with Geometry (June 25-29) will explore trigonometry, polygons, construction and more. To register for Camp St. Cecilia, visit www.stcecilia.edu. For more information, contact Camp Director Amie Pike at pikea@stcecilia.edu or (615)298-4525 ext. 660
